What Is Sea Moss and How is it Sourced?

Sea moss, also known as Irish Moss (or Chondrus Crispus), is a small sea plant, algae, seaweed often called "Nature's Multi-Vitamin." It is a species of red algae and sun-dried to achieve that beautiful golden sea moss color directly from the Atlantic Ocean. Sea moss can also come from manufactured pools and is commonly called "fake" because it does not offer the same nutritional value as wildcrafted sea moss. SeaMossalicious only uses sea moss directly harvested from the Caribbean, specifically St Lucia.

Sea Moss has 92 of the 102 minerals the body needs and contains beta-carotene, vitamin B, vitamin C, sulfur, and minerals like magnesium, manganese, calcium, phosphorus, zinc, iron, and Taurine; an amino acid is usually lacking in vegan or vegetarian diets. All these contribute to healthy cell functioning in the body. It also promotes nutritional mucus membrane support, digestive health, thyroid support, healthy weight management, mental and reproductive health.

For many centuries, sea moss has been used as a health treatment for tuberculosis and pneumonia. It was also used as food to nourish people who worked in potato fields because it was an inexpensive source of nutrients. The seaweed was thought of as a "poverty food" and discarded by health professionals. Dr. Sebi, the well-known and knowledgeable herbalist, brought sea moss back to the forefront and recommended it to his patients to treat chronic illnesses.
